WANA (May 24) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is preparing for a series of key international visits that highlight Tehran’s growing engagement with regional and global partners.

 

Invitation to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit

During a recent meeting between Chinese Ambassador Zong Peiwu and Mehdi Sanaei, senior political advisor to the Iranian President, Beijing formally invited President Pezeshkian to attend the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. The high-level gathering is set to take place in China later this year.

 

Ambassador Zong emphasized the historical depth of Iran-China relations, dating back over two millennia, and reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Tehran. “President Xi Jinping attaches special importance to the continuation of friendly and strategic relations with Iran,” the envoy noted.

Sanaei, for his part, underscored the importance of removing existing barriers to the implementation of bilateral agreements, highlighting the increasing complexity and depth of trilateral cooperation among Iran, China, and Russia.

 

Trip to Turkmenistan for Peace Conference

In a separate development, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry announced that President Pezeshkian has accepted an invitation to participate in the International Conference on Peace and Trust. The event is scheduled to be held on December 12, 2025, in Ashgabat.

 

These upcoming trips signal the new Iranian president’s intent to prioritize diplomacy and strengthen regional alliances through active participation in high-level multilateral forums.
